CALGARY ALLIED ARTS FOUNDATION: ST[ART] RESIDENCY

DEADLINE: OCTOBER 31 ANNUALLY

St[art] is a residency program in Calgary run by the Calgary Allied Arts Foundation (CAAF) - a non profit foundation that encourages development of art and culture in Calgary and assists with the acquisitions of works of art for the City of Calgary.

Submissions for each st[art] space are juried once a year. Applications submitted before the deadline date of Oct 31st are considered for residencies within the January-December period of the year following. Members of the st[art] committee review each submission and select successful applicants based on merit of proposal and programming requirements. Each residency allows for a monthly stipend of $500 as well as an exhibition allowance per residency of $100.

BANFF CENTRE CERAMICS STUDIO

The Ceramics Studio supports artists in the Visual Arts Creative Residencies program. Proposals for ceramics-based projects are accepted from artists applying for Creative Residencies.

The Ceramics Studio offers an exceptional opportunity to work in a generous studio environment, with access to a broad range of equipment designed to support most aspects of contemporary ceramic practice. We are in close proximity to other studio areas such as sculpture, painting, printmaking, photography, and the Digital Film and Media Production department. Access to these facilities is possible through consultation with relevant facility supervisors. Interaction and collaboration with artists in these areas and others is encouraged as part of a residency experience, and our expert staff will do their best to help facilitate your projects.

Please consult with the ceramics facilitator to determine the needs for your project at least two weeks prior to your arrival in Banff.

ARTIST RESIDENCY: EST NORD EST, QUEBEC

est nord est was founded in 1987 by a group of artists. Its name was inspired by its geographic location: a region east of major urban centres. The purpose of est nord est’s residency program is to enable artists in visual arts to have access to a wealth of human resources and unique technical services in an atmosphere that stimulates artistic practice.

Bringing together up to six artists from Quebec, Canada, and throughout the world, our two months residencies take place three times a year: in spring, summer, and autumn. Our top priority is to encourage artistic research and experimentation in contempory art.

Residencies at est nord est are open to artists in visual arts and other disciplines, whether they are emerging artists or established professionals, and to curators who want to submit a thematic residency project. Spark Box Studio Residency is now accepting Fall 2010 applications

Needing some time away to focus on a project or experiment on some new ideas? Spark Box Studio is now accepting applications for their Fall 2010 Residency Program.

Our Artist Residency Program provides live/work space to accommodate both emerging and professional printmakers, photographers, painters, illustrators and writers. Artists-in-residence have access to our professional studio and resources.  The Residency Program affords artists the space and time to support the advancement of their careers and to strengthen their practice. Artists-in-residence stay in a charming Victorian house located by the historic Picton Harbour in Prince Edward County, Ontario.

CANADIAN ART EDITORIAL RESIDENCY

The Canadian Art Editorial Residency is a national prize awarded to an art or art history student. The winning student hones his or her writing and editorial skills through mentorship with the editorial staff of Canadian Art magazine during the summer months. This introduction to art-magazine publishing and writing is intended to foster new critical and editorial talent. The $7000 prize is selected on the basis of a 500-word written exhibition review, one sample of recent academic writing on art and a one-page c.v.

The Fogo Island Arts Corporation is a new contemporary art venue on the east coast of Canada.  The Arts Corporation runs two distinct yet complementary programs, the Residency program and the Production program. Both programs encourage dialogue between visiting artists and local people to share experiences and perceptions.

The Fogo Island Arts Corporation’s mission to bring together local communities and the international art scene is reflected in the accommodations and work space provided to Residency Program participants. Striking new studios are being built at locations across the island. They are designed by acclaimed architect Todd Saunders. AFA ARTS RESIDENCY PROGRAMS IN ALBERTA SCHOOLS

The Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA) supports arts residency programs in Alberta schools through the Artists and Education project grant stream (found under Organization Project Grant).

The Artists and Education grant stream enables schools to bring professional Alberta artists into their classrooms for projects ranging from one to thirty days in length. Arts residencies encourage students’ creativity and advance K–12 curricula in fine arts and non-fine arts subjects. Visual artists, actors, dancers, musicians, writers, and storytellers have been involved in AFA-funded residency programs throughout Alberta. (more…)
