CALL TO ARTISTS: DRAWING THE LINE, UTILITARIAN POTS

Drawing the Line: Utilitarian Pots is a juried exhibition featuring ceramic functional pots. The work chosen must be crafted into a vessel and equally address the surface as a three-dimensional canvas. The use of line is an important element in the consideration of the chosen work. The works maybe marked with abstraction and/or representation. The purpose of this exhibition is to present the various ways that contemporary potters deal with surface design in conjunction with form. The exhibition will be held at the University of Arkansas’ Fine Arts Center Gallery from November 29- December 17, 2010. The exhibition is open to everyone. CALL FOR ENTRIES: BEYOND THE BRICKYARD, ceramics

The Archie Bray Foundation announces its third annual international call for entries, Beyond the Brickyard. The selected works will be exhibited at the Archie Bray Foundation in Helena. MT, January 2011. This year’s exhibition will be juried by 2010 Voulkos Fellow Paul Mathieu. The competition is open internationally to ceramic artists 18 years of age or older. Artists may submit up to 3 works for consideration, and up to 2 images of each piece (one complete photo plus one detail or alternate angle). All artwork must be available for sale and available during the time of exhibition. The cost of entering Beyond the Brickyard is $35 USD for up to 3 works. CALL FOR ENTRIES: UN-WEDGED, CONTEMPORARY CERAMIC WORK

Exhibition Dates: November 4 to 30, 2010

UN-WEDGED seeks contemporary ceramic work, both functional and sculptural, that is exceptional in concept and execution. The use of other media is acceptable as long as ceramics is the principle vehicle of expression. The show is open to all artists living in the United States, Canada and Mexico. All work submitted must have been completed within the last two years. Juror - Andy Nasisse, 2011 Jean Griffith Fellowship recipient, will be jurying the first annual UN-WEDGED ceramic competition and art show.  There is a non-refundable $30 per entry fee with two entries maximum. The Gust Gallery of Waterton Lakes National Park embraces the artists and landscape of Southern Alberta. The gallery is seasonal but prides itself on having local and international collectors for the past 10 years. We would at this time like to call for submissions for sculptors, potters, glass blowers and other 3 dimensional artists.

GUEST ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM: THE CLAY STUDIO

The Guest Artist-in-Residence program is open to any artist whose primary medium is clay.

Since 1992 the Clay Studio’s Guest Artist-in-Residence program has hosted artists from over thirty five countries including Anquilla, Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, The Czech Republic, England, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Iran, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, Romania, Russia, Sweden, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Wales, and the United States.

The Guest Artist-in-Residence Program provides:

  • a 12 x 12 ft. studio on The Clay Studio’s third floor
  • an apartment across the street
  • a materials and firing stipend of up to $200
  • and a $500 a month living stipend.

Residencies vary from 4 to 8 weeks, but both shorter and longer residencies have occurred to accommodate an artist’s schedule or to allow for a larger project. Some technical assistance is provided, but this program is designed for artists to work independently.  MORE INFO >>
