Symposium Experience

Enjoy a hands-on experience in water media taught by experienced workshop instructors at a great facility near the Rocky Mountain foothills. The Symposium will be held at the Alberta College of Art and Design which has lots of classroom and conference areas along with cafeteria and lodging nearby for those staying on site. You will enjoy the opportunities to visit the Rocky Mountains as well as experiencing some of the vibrant culture of the City of Calgary.

This unique watercolour symposium is open to everyone. Our team of professional watercolour artists will offer diverse perspectives on watercolour and water media painting. Hands-on participation is a priority! This will be a fabulous experience for artists, from beginner to advanced, who are looking for something different and challenging. Forums will offer the chance for two-way communication. There will be presentations, demonstrations, excursions, – and more!

Symposium Cost: Full Registration – $570
CSPWC Members and Associates deduct $25

Program Outline

Saturday Evening: Instructors and participants can get acquainted at an informal reception. Registration check-in will begin for those in attendance.
Sunday through Thursday: Enjoy a flexible selection of workshops, discussions, and field trips conducted by our stimulating instructors. You will be able to work with several different instructors during the course of the symposium. Displays of art materials by various suppliers will be offered at selected times during the week.

Course Schedule and Selection: Complete information and forms, including the workshop schedule for the week, will be sent to registered participants. Respond promptly – first come, first served!

Plein Air Excursions: We have scheduled two sessions for those enthusiastic about painting in the great outdoors, one going by bus to a lake side location in the nearby Rocky Mountains and one visiting the historic Leighton Art Centre in the nearby foothills.

Evening Programs: A special presentation will be featured on certain evenings by instructors and invited guests. You won’t want to miss these exciting events.
Facilities: The instruction will be held at the Alberta College of Art and Design which has ideal studios for participating artists.

Accommodations: Rooms are available at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology student residences which are adjacent to ACAD. Applications for this student housing are separate from the Symposium application. These accommodations include parking and breakfast. Please request full information from the CSPWC office or website.
The Alberta College of Art and Design is located on the C-Train line.
