Broadcast Lab 18-19 Season: CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Canadian Artists: Short film, animation and video.

Deadline: Submissions must be sent before 11:59PM on Monday, October 2, 2017.

BROADCAST LAB is an exciting micro-cinema programming at Arts Commons in Calgary, Alberta. Through a peer assessment selection process, Broadcast Lab programs up to 24 national media artists annually running three months in duration. The media art appears on three television monitors located throughout Arts Commons. This project reaches a diverse audience of all ages; content must be suitable for public spaces. BROADCAST LAB supports experimental films, video art, animations, and short documentaries and the selected artists will be compensated with a $475CAD artist fee.

+15 Soundscape 18-19 Season: CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Submission is open to local and national sound artists (please note that artists must be Canadian citizens currently residing in Canada to be eligible for this program).

+15 Soundscape: Sound artists from across Canada are invited to submit multichannel sound art proposals for the +15 pedway system located in Arts Commons (specific location overlooks the Scene Shop and is located between Calgary City Hall and the Glenbow Museum). The selected piece must be a minimum of 60 minutes in length and will loop continuously for three-four months. For the proposal please include a 10 minute sample of your proposed soundscape. This project reaches a diverse population of all ages; content must be suitable for public spaces. Please keep in mind that audiences may experience one minute of the piece, or the piece in its entirety on an ongoing basis.

Ledge Gallery/Window Galleries/Lightbox Studio 18-19 Season : CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Call for submissions from Calgary and surrounding area of visual artists, art collectives and multicultural community organization for the following spaces:

LEDGE GALLERY: 2018-2019 Programming
This unique space is located in the +15 pedway system and overlooks Centre Court from the second floor of the Centre. The gallery has windows on two sides, a cement floor and track lighting.

LEDGE GALLERY is most conducive to sculpture, installation and artist in residence – please note that the work is viewed from outside of the windows looking in unless the artist is present (performative piece). Exhibitions, projects and residences in this location will run for one to three month intervals depending on the nature of the proposal. CARFAC artist fees are paid for this exhibition space.

WINDOW GALLERIES: 2018-2019 Programming
These seven window spaces are located across from the Max Bell Theatre. Four of the windows are conducive to sculptural/installation work, three of the windows are more suited to 2D artwork (drawing, painting, photography etc.). Each window is painted white; all have varied measurements, and some are equipped with lighting and power sources. Exhibitions will run in three month intervals. Artist honorariums are paid for the Window Galleries. Please note that all artist fees and honorariums are contingent on current levels of funding.

LIGHTBOX STUDIO: 2018-2019 Programming
Lightbox Studio is a 17’x9’ site specifically for local artists, designers, writers and cultural producers to exhibit works in progress, ideas that are in the middle stages of development or a place to experiment with visual culture. These works in progress take form through an artist in residency format where the space is provided to be used as a studio and exhibition space. This work is often in process and provides the artist opportunities to expand upon their research and development in and generates dialogue between artists and audiences about the work. Artist honorariums are paid for the Lightbox Studio. Please note that all artist fees and honorariums are contingent on current levels of funding.
