About the Centre d’arts visuels de l’Alberta
Founded in 1997, the Centre d’arts visuels de l’Alberta, a non-profit organization, aims to raise community awareness about the importance of visual arts and to help francophone artists along
their journey by way of dynamic programs and publicity. This includes:
- an artistic program that encourages creativity and the exploration of different forms of art,
- action in cultural mediation;
- development of artistic skills in the community by way of special projects.
Working under the supervision of the executive director, the assistant director is the primary contact and agent of communication between the executive director and all concerned parties. They must assist the director in communication, administration and overall operations in order to facilitate and advance the Centre’s activities, program and objectives. They must assure coordination with the project director and promote events.

The University of Alberta Museums is now recruiting a dynamic, creative, and team-oriented Curator for the University of Alberta Art Collection (UAAC). Reporting to the Executive Director, Museums and Collections Services/University of Alberta Museums, the Curator is accountable for collection development and associated independent curatorial research including establishing a greater international profile for the collection; facilitating new acquisitions; ensuring physical and intellectual access to the UAAC; contributing to collection policy and procedure development; maintaining professional museum practices; and contributing to fund and resource development.

Reporting to the Director, Arts Development, these positions are responsible for grant management and for providing policy and development services to the following Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA) grant streams:
As part of the Arts Development team, the successful candidates will support the growth of Alberta’s arts community by providing expert advice to internal and external stakeholders and contacts as it relates to Ministry and AFA policies, services, and strategies.
Arts Development Consultants are also responsible for implementing workshops and events that foster and augment sector growth across the province and for liaising with provincial and national contacts to ensure that Ministry and AFA strategies reflect current issues/trends in the arts industry.
