The Alberta Society of Artists (ASA) and Visual Arts Alberta – CARFAC (VAA) are working together to make it easier for students to access scholarships. We invite students to submit an application and digital art images for the SummerScapes 2013 Scholarship Program.
All Applicants will be informed of the results of their application the first week of June 2013.
Fourteen scholarships will be awarded. The ASA and VAA will award 3 or more to Edmonton Students, 3 or more to Calgary Students and 5 or more to Students from outside Edmonton and Calgary). The scholarships provide the cost of tuition, meals, accommodation, and art supplies at Red Deer College’s SummerScapes 2013 (value: $445 + GST per scholarship).
In addition, The Alberta Society of Artists’ Edmonton Branch will select one Edmonton student for the Thelma Manarey Drawing Award ($100 gift certificate) from the entries received. Successful candidates will be contacted after the adjudication process.
This year SummerScapes 2013 runs between August 11th and August 17th, 2013. The week features an intensive, studio based exploration of drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, glass bead making and animation supplemented by visiting artists’ lectures and opportunities to explore different media.
Please apply using the following criteria:
- Scholarships are open to all students residing in Alberta in grades 10 to 12, between the ages of 15 and 17 by August 1, 2013.
- A completed application form and letter of recommendation from a teacher.
- 4-6 digital images of your artwork. (Digital images must be jpegs, 72dpi with the maximum size of each image under .5MB. Maximum file size: 1024 x 768 pixels. Title each image with last name of artist and number of image – eg. Smith01, Smith02 etc.)
Deadline: received by 4:00pm on May 02nd, 2013 (late applications will not be considered). All Applicants will be informed of the results of their application the first week of June 2013.
