Sculpt the Figure: February 4th and 5th, 2012
18 – Adult St. Albert metal, paint and clay artist Sharon Moore Foster leads this adventure into sculpting the human figure. Sharon’s zest for life translates into skill developing techniques in the studio. Experience working with clay or sculpture not essential. Amazing works have come from the hands of students who’ve never touched clay before! We begin the class with gestural small studies and move to a finished figurative work approx. size 8″ x 15″. Come with your tool kit or use what’s on hand. Clay and firing included. Unfortunately, additional studio time is not available.

The key to successful abstraction is knowing your subject in its true form first. Working with clay, from a live model, Sharon Moore-Foster will teach students to sculpt what they see and how to take their work to a new level through abstraction. Using a professional live model for inspiration and subject matter, students will begin with a small gestural clay study. Alongside the physicality of sculpting, students will learn the importance of drawing for sculptural perception and reference.
